Meet Guest Host Nick

Guesthost Nick Blumberg
Guest geek host Nick Blumberg is a journalist, a Sun Devil, and the co-parent of a mentally unhinged Corgi mix. Raised by his dad on a steady and diverse diet of all things geek and a proud geek to this day, he also loves art, music, and nonfiction.
Shameless geek interests:
  • Star Trek (Voyager, DS9, TNG, TOS, the old and new movies — okay, basically everything except f*cking Enterprise)
  • Star Wars (owns a replica Revenge of the Jedi poster — Google it)
  • Batman (faves: the really dark, sans-Robin Detective Comics in 70s, The Long Halloween, Year One, the Dark Knight Return & DK2, that time they shot Commissioner Gordon, the Nolans, and also the Clooney Batman when it’s on TV and there’s alcohol involved)
  • James Bond movies
  • 60s & 70s Marvel Comics (think Jim Steranko drawing Nick Fury & Barry Windsor Smith drawing Conan)
  • Sherlock Holmes in all his many forms, but especially the form that looks like Benedict Cumberbatch
His woefully underused twitter account (his words not ours): @ndblumberg

Meet Guest Host Andrea

IMG_2761

On the surface, Andrea appears to be your average credit union employee, but her true identity is super geek. Seeing as she loved to learn, she is a graduate of both ASU and University of Cincinnati. At the tender age of 10, her life was forever changed by the gift of a second hand Super Nintendo. Thus began the journey through the wonderful land of ‘geek’. Forever a browncoat at heart, her husband is fully aware that she would leave him for Nathan Fillion.

Meet Guest Host Dan

Presentation1

Dan Kurtz is that nerd that you call when you need a Babylon 5 expert and nobody else picks up the phone. He got sucked into his fandoms at an early age, mostly through Saturday morning & After-school cartoons. He successfully broke into the WB/Cartoon Network production offices at 19 after using a trick he learned while watching Sneakers. The first library book that he had ever checked out was about Star Wars. He could not yet read, but chose the book because the pictures were neat. Since then he’s found many like-minded individuals who share his interests and decided to leave his cubicle in order to join them.

Meet Guest Host Nathan

Nathan - New Times Big Brain
Filmmaker Nathan Blackwell began his career like many of his counterparts … a manic eleven year-old running around with a camera, making terrible movies.  He’s since directed over forty short films, two low-to-no budget feature films, and several web series.  His productions have involved ninjas, gentleman super spies, cross dressers, rectal-probing aliens, face-melting nazis, suburban mad scientists, melodramatic role-playing nerds, magic-casting teenagers, zombies, and space men with ray guns.  He’s the co-creator, writer and director of the sci-fi comedy web series Voyage Trekkers.

Top things Nathan Geeks out about:
  • Star Trek
  • Star Wars
  • Hayao Miyazaki
  • Big Trouble in Little China
  • The Cornetto Trilogy

Meet Guest Host Chako

Chako

John Chakravarty (or Chako) is a part time corporate cog and an all the time winner. He writes, draws and occasionally stands in for Channing Tatum at autograph signings. Chako was introduced to Star Wars at an early age by his brothers. This introduction grew into an obsession that included comics, Sci-fi literature, table top RPGs and lots of video games. Chako spends his days sequestered in his apartment writing novels (that will soon become major motion pictures), attempting to put Bruce Banner in his fantasy football lineup, and spending time with his wonderful woman-friend and two dumb dogs.

You can hear Chako on Educating [Geeks] 16 – Ender’s Game.

John gets his geek on for:
  • Star Wars
  • Venture Bros
  • Comic books
  • Video games
  • Paleontology
He has two websites
And you can follow him on instagram @jpchakra
