Alice’s Best of Season 1 Episode – Stargate SG-1

Stargate SG-1 Team

It was hard to choose my favorite episode from Educating [Geeks] Season 1, but after a little bit of thought, I settled on the Stargate SG-1  Season 1 episode. There were  two reasons behind this decision: 1) I had such a good time being educated by two monumental Stargate fangirls, Megan and Cassie and 2) since the release of the podcast I have seen every single episode of SG-1, Atlantis and Universe plus both direct to DVD SG-1 movies. EVERY ONE.

Yes, Stargate is definitely my cup of earl gray tea, hot!

If you haven’t listened to the whole episode yet, my favorite moments are:

  • 16:33 – Megan’s discussion of Hathor as the best/worst episode
  • 20:07 – My “What the hell” comment when I realized that I was sandwiched between two of the universe’s biggest Stargate SG-1 fans
  • 37:01 – Cassie declares that she is black
  • 44:15 – Cassie states “sometimes the side arm shows up”
  • 44:53 – I get an education on the term “shipper”
  • 52:25 – The drinking game rules, OF COURSE

This episode of Educating [Geeks] really embodies the reasoning behind the why the show is so awesome to me and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

– Alice

P.S. I ship for Jack and Teal’c on SG-1, McKay and just about anyone (especially ME) on SGA, and well there isn’t anyone to ship for on SGU ’cause they’re all hooking up all the time regardless.

Educating [Geeks] Drinking Game – Stargate SG-1 S1

Tealc Drinking

We knew you can’t resist watching some Stargate this weekend – especially after the love fest that was episode 11 of E[G]. Jack’s been spotted drinking Budweiser, Guinness, and Fat Tire. What brewski would you grab while watching Stargate SG-1? If you’re planning to take a trip through the gate this weekend, grab your team a 24-pack and be sure to take these drinking game rules with you!

  • Take a drink anytime someone says “theoretically”
  • Anytime Teal’c makes a supah-frown
  • Take a shot anytime someone says “campers”
  • Take a shot anytime there’s a Wizard of Oz reference
  • Take a drink anytime Teal’c says indeed
  • Take a drink anytime Teal’c raises one eyebrow
  • Take a shot anytime Teal’c raises both eyebrows
  • Take a shot anytime you see the earth point of origin
  • Take a drink any time you see the gate spinning
  • Take a drink any time you see the kawoosh
  • Drink the entire time they show the Stargate wormhole travel sequence
  • Take a drink any time General Hammond is on the red phone
  • Take a shot any time Carter’s technobabble lasts more than 10 seconds
  • Take a drink any time Jack gets to the planet and is immediately ready to leave
  • Take a 2nd drink if Daniel is disappointed because there’s “so much to learn/discover”

Stargate SG-1 – Season 1 Essentials

As the geekhosts  Geekhosts are preparing to record an episode dedicated to Stargate SG-1, we thought we’d provide you with some essentials for watching. Stargate SG-1 features very long seasons – typically featuring either 20 or 22 episodes. If you’re trying to cut down your viewing time, we’d recommend these 14 episodes:
1 & 2: Children of the Gods Parts 1 & 2 (Pilot Episode – note, if you are watching on DVD there is FULL frontal nudity, the rest of the ep is family friendly ish tho. If you’re watching online via amazon prime or other streaming service, the show has been edited to remove all of the nudity)
3: The Enemy Within
8: The Nox
10: Thor’s Hammer
11: The Torment of Tantalus
12: Bloodlines
14: Hathor (really just for the fun of it)
15: Singularity
17: Enigma
18: Solitudes
20: There But For the Grace of God
21: Politics
22: Within the Serpent’s Grasp

If you’d like to expand your viewing a bit:
7: Cold Lazarus
9: Brief Candle
19: Tin Man

And if you want to expand any further, obviously just watch the whole season. Which, of course we certainly recommend if you have the time. Happy watching!
